CHARACTER : fruity
VARIETY : Poulsard / Pinot noir / Trousseau
DESCRIPTION :
The town of Arbois is regarded as the capital of the Jura wine-growing region. Thanks to favourable climatic and soil conditions, the appellation accounts for 70% of red Jura wines. These vintages are made from three grape varieties: Trousseau, the typical grape of the region, which produces well-structured* wines. Poulsard, from which lighter, more fragrant wines are made. And Pinot noir, which produces wines of great sophistication. Note that the other Arbois appellation, Arbois Pupillin, is made primarily from Poulsard, with Trousseau grapes not allowed. Red Arbois wines are best drunk with pork delicacies, such as the delicious Morteau sausage, red or white meats, and grills.
*Well-structured: powerful and full-bodied with distinctive tannins
