CHARACTER : dry & fruity
VARIETY : Chardonnay / Savagnin / Poulsard
DESCRIPTION :
This protected appellation (AOP) is grown on 60 ha around the village of l'Étoile. It owes its name to the star-shaped fossils found locally, or maybe to the fives hills surrounding the village, forming the arms of a star. l'Étoile is made 90% from Chardonnay grapes, and the appellation is unusual in not including any red wines. These are extremely elegant and subtle whites. They can be drunk as an aperitif and combine perfectly with quiches, soufflés, white meats, meat and fish in cream sauces, exotic dishes and all the local cheeses, for instance Bleu de Gex, Mont d'Or and Morbier.
